The author presented way too much historical background on these characters and I was bored stiff. I tried listening to this on audio book and my mind kept wandering. I may try reading it because I could skim all the boring parts until I get to the meat of the actual story.

The discussion of the Fair is the focus but not the most reader-friendly portion of this book. In truth, it's tough to really follow which building went where and what the status was with each. So many architects helped that it's tough to keep everyone straight. But, Daniel Burnham certainly did well in putting his efforts into the Fair, and I enjoyed his turf wars with other architects.
