I was honestly surprised at how many stop/start moments I had when I tried to read this book. My mother loves the series, and it came highly recommended, but there's something about the first few chapters that doesn't pull you in like many of the other series I love.
That said, it is an amazingly sweet, warm first book. I'll be picking up the others when I have a chance, but reading this immediately put me in the mind of any of the James Herriot books. I'm definitely eager to start on the rest. ...more

My mother was on me for years to read this series and I finally read the first few but not all of them. The books tell the story of Father Tim, an Episcopal priest living in a small town. The books are full of quaint and quirky characters and lots of feel good warmth. I liked the books I read but I wasn't so into them that I felt I had to read the whole series-I'd really like to say 3.5 stars.

I have read the entire series and although I didn't enjoy them all equally, I enjoyed them mostly. I learned alot about the Episcopalian church. (At least, if Karon wrote accurately about it, I did.) I enjoyed the local townspeople and, of course, Father Tim.
