This book is a strange combination of in-jokes, weird juxtapositions, strange names and science fiction. It was a quick read, but somehow it just missed the mark for me. Sure, there were many moments when I marvelled at Fford's creative genius, but at the end it didn't hang together enough.

What a wonderfully funny book! I really enjoyed the adventures of Thursday Next and her loveable but eccentric family and friends. I have Lost in a Good Book awaiting on Mt TBR so I need to get it read now. I loved all of the literary "in" jokes and way Fforde made Richard III the Rocky Horror Picture Show of its time. A warning though...Do NOT read this and try and drink something at the same time! I nearly choked myself to death on a glass of water when I got to that part.

I really liked this book. It's an easier read than any of the Nursery Crime books. I read Jane Eyre before I read this so I knew what I was getting into. I'm glad I did, the last 1/3 of the book is TOTALLY based on the original book. The book would be considered Sci-Fi, except it has such strong basis on LIterature. There is something for everyone. I really liked this book and will read the series.

Very interesting premise. Might have to read the rest of the series.
