Putney was on the Romance recommendations list I read through for
One Perfect Rose
. Among romance novelists, I found her one of the better ones, but placed against fantasy novels, I didn't have high expectations when I saw her on a fantasy recommendation list. There was certainly nothing particularly original in the magical system or plot or the way she used the setting in Georgian England. The prose style is decent with just a tinge of purple.
