I am seriously displeased with the killing off of one of the characters. That said, I did enjoy this book. Very fast moving, well imagined, and engaging. Off to book 2.
Actually the first of five books (beware! you will get hooked into reading all five) that follow seven ruling families in an imaginary medieval world as they love passionately, deceive, defend, and sometimes destroy each other all to gain the power behind the Iron Throne. Martin reminds me of Tolkien with his rich chatacters, imaginative lands, and complicated storylines. I needed to take notes in a notebook as I read to keep track of all the threads. Not light reading, but extremely addicting.
Very visual writing. I can see why they wanted to make a TV Series of this story.
Slow to start but so good once I got into it.
