When you receive a free book with the only request is to write a review, my first thought is I will not like it and it will take forever to read. From page one of Something Borrowed, I was hooked. The plot was fresh, well balanced and a good read; no third act lull, no superfus sub plots. It took about two days to read, and while I thought I would be able to tell the ending, I was still suprised.

This book was surprisingly enjoyable, for "chick" lit. I would actually reccommend it. There was a bit more to this than materialism, classism, socialites, and body issues.
I felt the author was kind of a bigot though, or at least woefully racially ignorant. Although I think that of pretty much all "chick" lit authors. But this one was particulalry bad. Surprisingly enjoyable book. This book brought out a lot of feelings from my younger years and made me oh so happy that I am in a stable marriage with supportive friends. This book was gripping and I read the entire book in 3 days (which is fast for me). I wanted to find out what happened to the characters and if anyone ever got what they wanted. Almost all of the characters are individuals that you love to hate or hate to love. My favorite character of course being Ethan! HA! What a guy! The la

I enjoyed this more than most chick-lit I've encountered. I get annoyed by some of those Kinsella-esque novels with outrageous situations ("OMG, I accidentally signed up for a nanny job but never cleaned a house before!"). This was not that. Giffin did a great job of developing her characters and creating a scenario that you could completely envision in midtown Manhattan. I flew through the book because it was tough to put it down. I'm really looking forward to the next 2 Giffin books!
