In Clancy you're not going to get an elegant prose style or characters with any depth. I know that. But I give the book top marks for what it is--a well-paced, gripping nautical adventure tale with a wealth of technical detail that makes you feel like you have a privileged glimpse into the workings of the military and intelligence communities.
