I was first attracted to this book because of the cover. The original stain glass look, and then I took a longer look, and found the concept really intriguing. I took a look at Laurie's blog, and went to work the next day, and ordered the first 4 books in the series. It's a little longer read, because you are trying to get all the syntax. After accidently reading Pirate King, eleventh in the series, first and liking it, I thought I would go back to the beginning. In The Beekeeper's Apprentice, we discover how Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes meet and travel with them on their first cases, one of which involves a kidnapped girl. I really enjoyed the pace of this book and the sheer variety of cases that were presented.
