In this book I got acquainted with a pair of sleuths as memorable as Hercule Poroit or Lord Peter Wimsey. Or rather Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, since in some ways Archie Godwin is to Nero Wolfe what Dr Watson is to Holmes.

This is the first apperance of Nero Wolfe. For those who dont know Nero Wolfe is an eccentric genius who never leaves his house and grows orchids on his roof. He is also a P.I. and with the help of his employee Archie solves crimes. In this book Marie Maffei comes to Nero to find her missing brother Carlo.
