I held off on reading this book for a long time, I don't really know why, then my sister-in-law was reading and she was totally obsessed with it so I gave it a shot. I really liked this book, the descriptions are amazing, so detailed. I never would have expected to get so sucked in by something like this.

This book is so much better than the movie let's you believe...the story is that of a girl has she is forced to leave her parents (sold into slavery, basically!)You really get a good image of what life was life for her then and how she matured over time and became the greatest geisha in her city.

Read it long ago and would love to reread it again. I remember I couldn't put it down and would see people on line at the stores reading it too. Beautifully written and incredibly interesting.
