Kinda a confounding book. I thought much of the palace intrigue at the beginning was fairly tough to follow and ultimately not very interesting. I also thought the world wasn't terribly well built, except for the discussions about Winter's inhabitants and gender. On that note, the discussion on gender didn't interest me as much as it will others. It dominates much of the early interactions between the protagonist and those on Winter.
