This wasn't exactly the first book of hers I read {and I've read them all in the past thirty years or so} but it is in my opinion one of her best and the perfect launching point for the rest of her Pern Novels. Re-read on 09/24/09 ...more

There's some good and some bad in this one. The bad probably has more to do with when the novel was published than anything else. Still a quick story with a good plot. I'd say it was beginning fantasy, but it has some adult themes. ...more
