This is the heart-wrenching true story of a middle-aged woman in the Netherlands who works with her family to help save Jews during the Nazi occupation. She gets caught, captured and imprisoned in a German concentration camp. This book is like the flip side of "The diary of Anne Frank".It tells the story of one of the families who hid Jews in Holland, (in fact welcomed them),during WW2. For this family, it was their unshakeable faith that got them through the experience, from the early days of the Underground, to capture, the death camps and beyond.
Surprisingly unputdownable.

Second time reading /listening to this fascinating and inspiring story. Of course we all love the story of how the fleas were a blessing, and how she had to turn the forgiving of the soldier over to Christ. I never realized the title referred not only to the place where they hid people, but to a verse in the bible as well. Psalms 32:7: You are my hiding place . . .

Very engaging story teller of the religious miracles that led this family to help and peace in WWII while courageously helping others. Quite a different perspective with the same sad story of life in prison and concentration camps during the Nazi invasion.

Should this book not be on the list that everyone should read? It would be world-changing in such a dramatic way if we could all adopt her attitude about life, and even more, the attitude of her sister, Betsie!
