Wow. This was a scintillating read, full of excellent storytelling and a good inishgt into how Everest affects the minds of those who climb it. Like many other readers, I was struck by the seemingly incomprehensible drive of people like Krakauer to climb the mountain for what amount to "5 minutes on the roof of the world." I also see this book as an excellent look into personal guilt. I was similarly amazed at the physical elements on the mountain but the idea that climbers begin to take a "free ...more

Before beginning Into Thin Air I dreamt of maybe climbing Mount Everest one day (as so many do). But now after having read the true account of one journey up the mountain, I must say that I no longer want to (thanks a lot Jon Krakauer). But regardless of this, I still rather enjoyed the book.

The beginning is somewhat slow, the part in which they begin climbing the mountain. However, the ending was extremely good and it solidified my enjoyment of the novel overall.
