I know the author is controversial (which might explain some of the wildly negative reviews of it I've seen) but back when I read this, I found it the opposite of the author's reputation.

Card has a crisp, clean style. I was sucked in from the beginning--the six year old Andrew "Ender" Wiggins makes for an engaging protagonist, and the story from the first had some thought-provoking takes on military leadership, training and necessity--and then at the end it wallops you with a twist that speaks

One of the absolute best Sci-Fi books out there. After reading Ender's Game, follow up with Ender's Shadow. It follows the same events from the perspective of the character, Bean. I read EG, then ES, then read both again, and then EG a third time. ...more

A great read. Struggled with the decision of 4 vs 5 stars. Will be reading the next one in the series soon. Thanks to Brandice for the suggestion.

A good read. I especially liked the dialog and the looks into the minds of the "gifted" children that are the cornerstone of this book. The main character, Ender Wiggin, is the quintessential tragic hero. He is constantly forced into situations that cause him to question himself and his morality. There were some parts that were a little slow and others that were a bit repetitive, but overall it was a great book. I would recommned this book for anyone, but especially those that enjoy a good sci-f ...more
