Horrific, well written summary of the rape of Nanking.
I almost put it down halfway thru but was curious how things turned out in the safe zone. Surely 30 people wouldn't be able to stand up to 100,000 Japanese soldiers and keep 300,000 people alive. But somehow it worked! Crazy.

It is so amazing to me that history focuses so much on the atrocities of Hitler during WWII, but that most of the horrors committed by Japan are glossed over. The Rape of Nanking is such a shocking story of one of the most evil times in the history of the world. It is stunning to think about how people could ever stoop to such utter depravity.
