I was very happy with this book. Very satisfied. I will definitely read more of this author's work. I was entertained throughout the whole book, even though Galileo's brain was far superior to mine and sometimes I was lost. At first I had a hard time getting over the fact that he confined both his daughters to a life of hunger, discomfort and poverty in a convent. It was really hard for me to understand. At least Virginia totally immersed herself in the convent life and I think grew to love it.

This is the story of Galileo told in part through the letters his oldest daughter wrote to him through out his lifetime. It shows the affection that she had for her father and even though the letters he wrote to her did not survive the affection was mutual.
