If you have ever owned a dog from puppyhood you could probably write this book. It's a very quick read, and like that heartwarming little story they always try and end the daily news with, it is designed to make you go "awwww".
Marley may have been more destructive and possibly even more dumb than the average pet, but his hapless owners loved him and put up with his antisocial behaviour, along with all the good stuff. Grogan summarises Marley's life and the effect he had on their relationship an ...more

On the surface this story is about an overly active, curious, and a bit neurotic American-white-lab named Marley. The numerous stories of his mischiefs keep the reader smiling and at times rolling with laughter. Yet, this book is also about the forging of a family and the strengthening of emotional ties that bind this family together (including their dog). I feel like the last person on earth to read this book but better late than never I guess. Sweet book about a crazy but loveable dog and the ways he touched his family's life. I'm not an over the top dog person and there are some dogs that I like more than others but this was still touching.

This book is so moving, the story of Marley is loving told, with some real laugh out loud moments. It made me laugh and cry in equal measures. I would recommend this book to anyone, not just dog lovers. I can't wait for the film to be relased.

What a great book, especially for animal lovers! Growing up, we definitely had a "Marley" (except his name was Joe), and I found myself reliving so many memories of him during this book. In the beginning, I kept thinking, "Why would we ever want a dog like that?" By the end, you can't imagine NOT having a dog like that. This is a great memoir, and I think the first book to ever have me on the brink of tears...as well as laughter. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Loyalty. Courage. Devotion. Simplicity. Joy. And the things that did not matter, too.

One of my favorite books of all time. I bought this for my dad for Christmas, but had to get a copy for myself after I started reading his copy.
This is a must for anyone who's owned an overzealous dog. Hint: don't read the last 20 pages in public. I laughed out loud at several parts in the book, but I bawled through the end. ...more
