When I first started to read this novel, I thought it was for children. It was NOT.

Quite frankly, I'm not sure why I enjoyed this book so much. I just know that I've been reading it non-stop for the past 4 hours, and now I have to scramble to finish up all of the things I should have been doing today. (And hopefully before my husband gets home from work!)

I guess those errands will have to wait until tomorrow! ...more

I liked this from the start and by the end loved it. The perfect feel good book if you're feeling blue. The novel creates its own unique world that could be described as urban fantasy or magical realism. The story concerns the Owens family. At the novel's start, two little Owens girls, Sally and her sister Gillian, are living with their aunts. My biggest problem with this book was that I felt totally disconnected. I never quite got into it and I actually didn't really love the story. I had thought I liked the movie but I watched it again and it turns out I didn't really care for that either. With that being said, I would still try more books by this author. ...more
