What Members Thought
There's no denying this is a beautifully written piece of literature in which the author succeeds in creating a variety of truly unique voices and writing styles. However, I do feel that, for my attention span, it's a bit too long and the poetry snippets scattered throughout can be a bit too much of a tangent. An excellent tale, I love a good literary mystery. I love Byatt's style of writing and the characters were so well drawn I felt emotionally tied to the sweetly, unprepossessing Roland and the more icily reserved Maud.
