This is a fascinating little book. Set in 1799 France, it's a historical novel with the most unusual protagonist I've ever encountered. I'm half-way through and loving it.

Had a slow spot for me in the middle, but it may have just been me being anxious to finish up another book I was reading at the time. The last hundred or so pages seemed to fly by and kept me interested. Finished it at 2:30 am. :)
Fascinating stuff. A throwback from earlier in the year that I just had the chance to add, but the concept of the novel is so brilliant. I love the lush way the author has of describing each texture and smell.
