This modern classic is beautifully written but disorienting in structure as the story loops back on itself. Mostly centered on and the from perspective of the Ipe twins when they are 7 years old, we learn about their disjointed and complicated family as well as past traumas that lead to a tragic event. At first I thought this book was annoying, then as I continued reading I realized the rhythm of the writing - the repetition, the fragmentations of thoughts - all was the real rhythm of language - of thought - of my thoughts. The book is a tragic symphony and reaches a rousing crescendo. The more you read the more you will get hooked.

Not my cup of tea. Although I read more than half of the book, it wasn't enough to keep me interested.

3 1/2 stars from me. I almost "really liked it", but it was a bit difficult to read. It seemed a little "jumpy" if that's an appropriate term to be used for a book.
