Really enjoyed this book. If, however, I was reading instead of listening, I may have found the pace tedious and may have taken a while to read it.
Great story. This author is excellent at the descriptive word. One sentence and I could picture exactly what she was talking about.
I would have given it 5 stars, but I was unmoved by the unrealistic obsession that Margaret had with her twin. It wasn't believable for me, and it was the only time in the story when I felt like rolling my eyes and yelling ...more

I finally found out why this book had been recommended to me for so long. First off, the protagonist is a lover of books...thumbs up! Secondly, I love how the story weaved in and out of itself, creating mystery upon mystery. There were several times in the novel where I thought, "Oh, this book is going to be SO predictable!" and of course, it wasn't at all. Everytime I thought I figured it out, a new twist was thrown in. A great mystery, especialy for the bibliophiles out there.

This book was chosen for two different book clubs-gotta love a two-fer. The story was great, eerie and totally engrossing. Margaret Lea is asked to write the biography of Vida Winter, a hugely successful but reclusive author. Vida's tale is dark to say the least but has some good plot twists.

A great novel of gothic strangeness. I could barely put it down because i dont generally like mysteries, so i was very "must finish and find out the ending." The resolution of this one is very good, it leaves mysteries to be solved and gives answers that you thought you knew and are completely surprised by (or maybe i was just slow to pick up that one answer).

It's dark and mysterious and not like anything I've read. I loved it. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. It's unpredictable and I didn't want it to end.

I really liked this book. I didn't really figure out the story until the end so I enjoyed the suspense.
