This book was really sad. A man's wife dies falling out of a tree and no one was with her but the dog. The man decides to try to teach the dog to communicate so he can find out what happened to his wife. While he's trying to learn about animal communication he finds all the people who are doing cruel things to animals to "help them communicate."
