This book has flaws-as other reviewers have described-but I still found it worthy of 4 stars, and an enjoyable read.
The story of this village where (most of) the occupants nobly agreed to close their gates and attempt to protect their countrymen from the Plague is a fascinating one, and the horrors and sadness of the time are well described. I wanted to pick it up and keep reading, and it was only after I started my next book that I really appreciated how well written it is.
