An excellent read. Anya Seton presents the epic love story of the story of Katherine Swynford, the mistress and eventual wife of John of Gaunt, and their children, who were the direct ancestors of the Tudors, Stuarts, and the modern British royal family. The book would have been worth reading just for telling this story of this improbable love succeeding despite the gruelling obstacles it faced. The book being a true history set at a time of monumental changes in England's political development
