What Members Thought
This story is told by Amir, who at the start is a young boy coming of age in an Afghanistan falling apart, and primarily dealing with his friendship with Hassan, the "kite runner" of the title. Taking us from the 1970s to March of 2002, this riveted me from the first page. The style is elegant and clean, with an eye and ear for the details to bring an unfamiliar culture to life.
