I'm not going to give a synopsis or anything, but I will say that this is one of the best series I have EVER read. And I read a lot. Tons. So to say that really means something. Don't let the romance label put you off, this series is difficult to define. The historical content is accurate and amazing, the characters are amazingly real and complicated, the storylines interesting and unexpected - really, I just can't say enough great things about this series. I'm really torn about this book. On one hand I like the concept, the characters and the setting. I especially enjoyed the parts of the book that took place at the castle. On the other hand, some of the discussion of the relationships seemed long and drawn out, and some of the situations just were too over-the-top graphic for me.

Oh my...how is it I never heard of these books before? I'm so excited to have another series to read. I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen though! There are more than a few books in this series, so I'm wondering what other pain and misery poor Jamie will have to endure. Obviously I'm hooked since I'm sitting here worrying about a fictional character's physical, mental and spiritual well being.

It made for a nice read, quite entertaining and informative. Although, the romantic aspect is not everyone's cup of tea so it's not really one for the men. But it made for a good holiday read and i'd certainly recommend it to anyone willing to take-on 863 pages of tiny print.Go for it!

I had read this when this first came out, but had forgotten how well written it is. Yes, there is some juicy sex between Claire and Jamie, but the research she put into this book is wonderful. The historical aspect is well researched. I can't wait read the rest.

Every bit as fabulous as everyone always told me! The audio CD is amazing, too...Jamie's Scottish brogue in particular. And for once, my procrastination pays off, because I don't have to wait years for the sequels!
