This book was fantastic. I absolutely LOVED it. The story is one about a boy who accidentally calls forth a demon. He is forced to live as the demon's master for 70 years, always searching for a way to kill his demon. One day he enters a town named Pine Cove, and the story begins. Moore tells each part of the story from a different perspective, and slowly the mystery (and eventually, the solution) unfolds. It is extremely well written and absolutely hilarious. It really gets kicking around page 50 when we see Robert at the car wash with a laundry basket full of dirty dishes and an inability to feed quarters into the control box.
Or, How I Began My (Fictional) Love Affair with Christopher Moore and his demented world....
The beginning was really slow. Then, the middle introduced a number of new characters that didn't seem to have much of a connection. The end actually put them and the story all together, thankfully. This is the reason I gave the book one more star than I would have otherwise.
