I have a secret passion for reading stories about woman in China. Their lives so often keep secret from the west are always compelling and heart wrenching. The story of lily and Snow Flower is no different.

Perfect book for those left with a gap in their lives after the DaVinci Code craze ended and they could no 1-up their friends by saying "Yeah, Angels and Demons was way better. You should have read that book instead. Idiot."
Keep your smugness streak alive by telling your Kite Runner-loving friends "Yeah, Snow Flower is way better. It's so riveting and heart-breaking in a way that Kite Runner can only aspire to be."

Great story...told "autobiographically" but with lots of good twists and turns. The author definitely brought me into an era that I knew little about(1800's China), and made it seem very real.
