Stephen King is a favorite author of mine. This just isn't a favorite work of his. Now, if you want to read the scariest horror books ever written, then go get The Shining (a better book than even the excellent film) or his vampire book, Salem's Lot, where vampires are still monsters, not a dream date. And I think he's at his best in his short stories and novellas.
