If you know Sookie by that HBO series, well, from what a friend tells me of them, they're quite different in overall feel and characterization than the books. I haven't seen True Blood, but I have read all the books, and they're favorites.

As many others have said of this book, it is a guilty pleasure. The writing style is not the best- I can't decide if that's intentional or not- but the premise is really quite interesting. I found myself really liking Sookie and enjoying her adventures. It's sort of light, breezy reading that can be a nice break. Sometimes the story lags, sometimes it's somewhat repetitive, and sometimes there's too many sex scenes, but I still enjoyed the first 3 that I have read, and I do intend to read the re

Not as good as Anne Rice but really...who is? Charlaine Harris has caught my interest with just the right amount of sex and violence. This series was recommended to me by a few friends. I've never seen True Blood and I'm not sure that I want to. Twilight ruined vampire movies for me. The books I can still deal with.
