I read this book because it was a runaway best seller, and wanted to understand why. The book is well paced, and with a provocative premise, but its basis comes from another poorly researched pop conspiracy non-fiction book, Holy Blood, Holy Grail and the history is laughably off to anyone at all casually educated in Christian and Western history. It's also badly written in a line by line stylistic sense, the plot is predictable, and the hero a rather flat Marty Stu.
