What Members Thought

Instead of doing one of my (admittedly) rigidly structured reviews for the BDB books, I'm just going to ramble a bit about them.
My first encounter with the BDB books was through Goodreads. I'm a member of a lot of paranormal romance and urban fantasy groups, and the BDB books are often recommended for paranormal readers. I'm usually more of an urban fantasy reader, but I thought I'd try out those books I heard so many people raving about. This was in June 2011.

Fairly clean style (as in the author can actually hold point of view), imaginative world-building (not your traditional vamps, but I promise you they don't sparkle), rounded characterizations with good voices, a page-turner. Negatives? This book was awesome! Romance, violence, sex, brotherhood, love...this book has it all.
Wrath is a blind member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood that has given up on love until he meets Beth, the daughter of one of his brothers. Darius's dying wish is that Wrath, the last remaining pureblood vampire, will help Beth through her transition to a vampire by giving her his blood otherwise she may die. I don't actually know why I liked this book. I found the beginning to be slow, and the a lot of the talk about women is the type I avoid. I also didn't particularly care for Wrath. But overall I stayed interested and I will probably start the second book soon.
