Holy cow, what an awesome book! Words can't begin to describe my thanks to Kathleen! Fast-paced and unputdownable, the story just kicks into high-gear and doesn't let up! The male characters are deep, strong, and intense. The women characters just as strong and can stand up on their own and up to the males. I guess one could call this a classic paranormal romance...back from the days of flipper cell phones and calling a cab rather than an Uber.
A fun read if you like this genre, which I do! So much so, in fact, that I put all my reading challenges challenge aside again and jumped into the next book in the series, Lover Eternal. A bad Harlequin romance with vampires.
Wrath is the last purebred vampire on the planet; he is also the leader of the exclusive vampire warriors the Black Dagger Brotherhood. An elite group of vampires that protect other Vampires from the Lessers (Vampire Slayers). When Wrath is asked by a follow Brother to protect his daughter when she goes through the transition (the act of changing from human to vampire) he initially says no but when the Brother dies Wrath feels responsible to protect his only living offspring.

I enjoyed this book. An interesting twist on Vampire lore. Loved the brotherhood...Wrath, Tohr, Darius are my favorites. Liked the Beth character. Loved the butler Fitz. Will probably read more in the series.
Only complaint -and it's small - that I don't really want to jump to what the bad guy is up to.
Her vampires are divine, the characters are fun. I have to admit that I didn't want to like this book. Sounded too wanna-be cool, bad ass vampires at first, but um... two night of staying up WAY too late just so I can read another chapter. Guess J.R. Ward got me good.
