What impressed me most about this book was that there was not a single page that I felt like skimming. Such was the wit and style employed in this novel I was spellbound from the start. Throughout there was a subtle dark humour that kept me entertained from start to finish. I also liked the fact that even Shadow the central character had a degree of moral ambiguity about him. Though it does drag in the beginning and does not live up to some of Gaiman's other work (Sandman, Marvelman), this book is really excellent (and everything that is boring in the beginning becomes more interesting later). The concept of the New Gods is great, and I'm excited for his planned direct sequel focusing on them. I also enjoyed how Greek mythology was barely referenced in favor of dozens of other mythologies.
