Prophet doesn't want a partner. Any kind of partner. Now he's stuck with Tom in the middle of a case that's personal in nature. Regardless, he heads on to do his job only to find himself intrigued by the man traveling with him even before setting foot in the plane.

Tom's luck hasn't been that great as of late. He's had three partners die on him and is not looking to lose another. Although he thinks Prophet is insufferable, he can't help but be drawn to the man. In their short acquaintan

This book had potential, but unfortunately it pretty much fell flat. The beginning intrigued me, and I saw the Cut & Run similarities, but I was constantly wanting for more. More characterization, more chemistry, more depth. There was so much going on with the characters and the plot, but it went nowhere. Like Cillian, for example. Why was he even in this story? We got zero explanation. To me, he was thrown in just (view spoiler)

As an aside...
I believe it would really help the reader to have read Free Falling prior to this story, if not the whole previous series for the loose connections of various other characters that show up throughout.

This is a decent story, and laid the foundation of what could be an interesting series. I think to me, though, that the story felt rather disjointed and a little awkward, and the proofreading errors pulled me out of the flow.

So, I have this thing for alpha males in law enforcement type situations, and I totally get where people see Cut and Run in this, but it's still unique in it's own right.

There's a constant battle between the two, even when in bed, and the pain they both feel in multiple situations is tangible to the reader.

I am so looking forward to the follow-up, but I'm also a bit nervous when it comes to Cillian. I just don't li

I can see this as a beginning of one fucked up relationhip of Vadim and Dan kind (maybe not with so much cheating involved though), because both of these men are fucked up and carrying baggage the size of Texas and there's no recovery in sight. Stubborn too. And, yes, hot as hell.

The writing style didn't always work for me, sometimes the head-hopping was too distracting. Other times it worked well, especially when dealing with Prophet's PTSD. Well, at least the sequel will be released soon.
