I didn't hate it but the whole situation didn't ring true to me.

Bratty submissives are not my favourite characters. Nor are they people I enjoy being around in real life. It is more the fact that I can't stand bratty people. There is a sudden increase in stories with bratty subs. Some of the authors push it because they claim those in the lifestyle are too uppity with their "one true way" of how a submissive should behave. Not sure what to expect and yet a fan of Ms. Dare, this story is not as I anticipated.

3.5 stars.
I liked the interaction between the main characters. Bret's brattiness was refreshing as Marcus' willingness to cave to it. It's a slightly different take on submission and it breaks a little the rules of the game. It would have been an easy four stars if it had begun a bit earlier. I'm like this, I prefer to see the beginnings of a relationship than the end and I was dying to read about Brat spotting Marcus and Marcus realizing he was stalked. I loved it! I've been avoiding any and all BDSM related stories for a while now, having become very bored with them. I was skeptical starting out, but this one was a breath of fresh air.
I loved Bret's cheekiness and Marcus' emotional transformation. I was so happy when he shared Bret's sentiment of love.
I think this book was the perfect length. It was only novella sized, but it was perfect because it couldn't allow for too much drama. I literally smiled at the ending! ...more

Cute story. Not my favorite of Dare's. I did like Bret, the bratty sub, but his mental monologue about how much he needed to be Marcus's sub and why just didn't do a whole lot for me. And Marcus is freaked out at one point, and then he's all good with being in love an hour later. It just felt rushed. I don't know, it just didn't sit right with me. 3.5 stars.

I usually love Kim Dare, unfortunately this one fell flat for me. The characters were cute but I couldn't really connect to them. The story was way too predictable. There just wasn't anything to this particular story for me to say wow or neat about.

A very sweet and sexy Valentine’s related story! I really liked Bret’s persistence, focus on what he wanted, and natural brat tendencies, but what makes him a little more unique is the fact that his “brattiness” stems more from a strong curiosity and lack of knowledge than from the manipulation of an experienced sub trying to get what he wants. It’s always a pleasure for me to read one of Kim Dare’s books!!
