This book was so much more than I expected coming from the description. While I have read Second Hand (TS #2), this book was in a different league (note that this can be read stand alone).
We are briefly introduced to Denver in Second Hand as El's best friend and the heavily muscled bouncer at the local gay club who enjoys the benefits of that job, all the twinks and college boys he wants. He encounters Adam at the laundromat, and intervenes as Adam is being harassed by a group of drunken frat b ...more

I liked the story but didn't love it. Writing was good.
It started out strong (is there such a laundromat that exists :P) and I thought we would get a pretty intense story but it didn't feel that way in the end.
I'm not well versed in OCD personally but it seemed Adam's illnesses were all over the place and I just couldn't keep them all straight. It threw me out of the story. I'm not saying there aren't OCD sufferers with multiple issues, but for a book, maybe less OCDs would have been easier for ...more

I LOVED this book!
One of the clichés of love stories is the "I'm a better me when I'm with you." and in so many cases we never see evidence of it other than the characters say so. In Dirty Laundry we DO see it. We see the first seeds get planted, so to speak, in the laundromat and we get to see the seedling push through the ground in the bar, the leaves unfurl and the stem grow strong in the various other places around Tucker Springs as Adam and Denver navigate the mine fields of... well... the ...more

Overall
Sexy kink with tons of psychology and mental health issues, and all well handled. Maybe it’s the concussion talking, but this was a winner!
Note: I normally don’t review Riptide books because of conflict of interest (and I usually read them for work-related duties). I had nothing to do with this one (since I was concussed and out of work), and I’m not rating it (because it’s unfair). However, this was the first new book I read after my concussion, still during my recovery period, and I’m o ...more

Man oh man, Heidi! I think you wrote this one just for me. You are so good at writing emotionally challenged characters, the kind I can emphathize with so thoroughly and love to pieces. In this story you gave me TWO such characters, though Adam seems to face a much larger challenge than Denver.
Reading the blurb, a reader might think that meeting in a laundromat is kind of icky, but Adam and Denver turn it into a very erotic scene that leaves both of them unable to forget the encounter afterwards ...more

I felt for Adam for all of his anxieties and ever present inner bully. It's great that he had Denver, Louisa, and - later on - Sig on his side. And if only I could get ahold of bloody Brad's neck and choked him...
Anyways, my only hurdle with this book was the bdsm scenes, light though they were. They built the stories though, for which I plough through reading. It's beautiful how both Adam and Denver took care of each others' weaknesses, and it's just like what stated in the blurb: The course ...more
