Okay, so this isn't really going to be a proper review, because this story is not finished. This instalment of The Flesh Cartel takes us up to the auction, where Mat and Dougie are purchased by Nikolai.
And holy crap -- I need to read the rest! I need to know what happens when Dougie and Mat are trained by Nikolai.
Because at the beginning, you see, Nikolai sees Dougie and thinks he has "...a mouth for reciting poetry with his head in his master's lap. And a mind for it, too" which made me cauti ...more

A heartbreaking, intriguing read that left me stunned and curious.
As the blurb stated, in this episode we get to discover the reason behind Mat and Dougie's capture. And I have to tell you this one was as brutal as the first one. At least I already knew what to expect and prepared myself mentally for the onslaught. I'm glad I did, because this book goes places that I never could have imagined.
We start right when we left off in Episode 1. Dougie and Mat are brought to their 'rooms' and it begins. ...more

Well here we are again, still unsure but having read this part I'm now more emotionally invested in the characters.
Yet again they go through unspeakable violence and torture, and I was crying and saying no, no, please no, YET, I couldn't help but read on to find out what happens. Its like a gory film, you cover your eyes because you know its going to be horrific but you still peek through a gap because you NEED to watch and find out what happens.

This was intense. Breathtakingly intense, almost. But I couldn't stop reading. Could help but wonder what new levels of depravity this people would sink to. I need something unapologetically smutty to cleanse myself of this one before I start on the next installment.

Dark and disturbing doesn't begin to explain this series and I am not sure I want to learn more, because based on the story thus far, there doesn't seem to be a way this can end well.

This one gets a high rating based on my visceral reaction to this ongoing story about Mat and Dougie and the dark, twisted, and desperate situation in which they find themselves. This series definitely pushes my limits and brings out a lot of uncomfortable feelings, but like a good soldier, I’ll keep shouldering forward and see this mission through to the end.
