First, I have to say that I laughed when I went to write my review and Goodreads prompted me with "What did you think?"
Such an innocent, simple question. But I could not simply answer. Believe me, you do not want to know what I first thought. I don't think you would appreciate all my Spanish cussing and jumbled thoughts. I can't read this anymore. Nothing wrong with the story. The author did a good job, but I just don't do well with cliffhangers.

I went into this book with eyes wide open and still found it pretty raw and brutal. My rating is purely based on this book as a work of fiction (I do not condone violence of any sort in real life – consensual BDSM aside). I definitely had a strong emotional reaction to the terror and abuse inflicted on Mat and Dougie and felt their angst as they worried about the other. This is a hard one to review. The story is short because it is a serial and being the first the end is abrupt and the story itself (due to the nature) is cruel. The warnings are to be believed. This is a harsh and cruel read. You struggle as much as the characters with what is happening. If you don't like or can't stand that sort of read...DON'T READ IT. This isn't a nice, safe, happy read. That being said, I did like the intro into this world.
