Aleks does it again with this book. He is truly a master story teller. As a non-reader of the sci-fi genre (the main reason I have held off reading this book for so long), I didn't find myself bogged down in confusing sci-fi jargon. Aleks sets the scenes and the world so well that I didn't find myself with that horrible need to go back to confirm facts—thank you, Mr Voinov. It was all easily processed by me. Really liked the conncept (and execution) just wish it had been much longer. (Yes, i am greedy)
Okay, this was awesome!! Seriously awesome! I love good science fiction stories, and this one, well, it had me solidly gripped in its clutches from the first few pages on.
So why did I like it? First of all, the world building was coherent, thorough, and meticulous. Although the story was pretty short, you got a very good idea of the current general situation, the customs, the tech equipment (always important in sci-fi), the prevalent ideas and thoughts.
