Aleks does it again with this book. He is truly a master story teller. As a non-reader of the sci-fi genre (the main reason I have held off reading this book for so long), I didn't find myself bogged down in confusing sci-fi jargon. Aleks sets the scenes and the world so well that I didn't find myself with that horrible need to go back to confirm facts—thank you, Mr Voinov. It was all easily processed by me. Okay, this was awesome!! Seriously awesome! I love good science fiction stories, and this one, well, it had me solidly gripped in its clutches from the first few pages on.
So why did I like it? First of all, the world building was coherent, thorough, and meticulous. Although the story was pretty short, you got a very good idea of the current general situation, the customs, the tech equipment (always important in sci-fi), the prevalent ideas and thoughts.
