I've re-read this twice this year. And I've read it a few times in the last few years. I actually revised my rating to 5 stars. I've come to really appreciate the style of the story-telling, the editing, the relationship between the two characters. In some ways, I wish there are had been further descriptions- of the environment, of some of what happened to humans at the hirudo reveal, how the lyche acquired their social overthrow. This is one of those books it's impossible to forget. The world is very interesting and the story is full of twists and turns, I was instantly captivated and fully engaged with it. The characters are complex and with multiple layers, I was fascinated by all of them, although my favorite one is absolutely Black.

What else can I say? I'm sorry I've finished it, I wish there was more.
