Where Nerves End is an entertaining read, with nice characters, a predictable, but pleasing story line, and not too much drama or angst to make it seem over the top.

Jason Davis has had been dealt a pretty crappy hand in the last months: his boyfriend has vanished leaving him all alone with a crippling mortgage, his business partner is gone so Jason has to deal with all the financial problems concerning their night club Lights Out on his own, and his injured shoulder is killing him more and 3.75

Jason Davis has had been dealt a pretty crappy hand in the last months: his boyfriend has vanished leaving him all alone with a crippling mortgage, his business partner is gone so Jason has to deal with all the financial problems concerning their night club Lights Out on his own, and his injured shoulder is killing him more and more, taking away much needed sleep time and the pain pills pumping through his systems aren't much of a help either. His at his wit's end and is finally convinced to try out a last resort: going to an acupuncturist - esoteric crap in Jason's eyes, but he'll try anything to get better.

In Michael Whitman Jason doesn't only find an acupuncturist who actually helps alleviate his pain, he also finds a roommate. Michael has financial problems of his own and living in Tucker Springs isn't cheap - so he quickly takes the chance of reducing his rent by living with Jason. With him comes his son Dylan who spends half of his time with his dad and half with his mom, and suddenly Jason's house doesn't seem so empty anymore. Now, how can he convince himself to keep his dreams clear and his hands off the straight, but oh so gorgeous Michael? Besides the gay-straight issue, he has a doctor-patient relationship and a roommate situation to take into account, so the smartest thing would be to just turn his libido somewhere else. But a libido isn't so easily swayed from what might just be tastiest piece of man it's wanted in a long while...

I really enjoyed this story, it was a solid romance, no big surprises, but engaging and well written. I liked both of the characters, liked them a lot actually, if it weren't for one thing: it seemed to me that both, Jason especially though 'cause his perspective is the one we get, try a bit too hard to be all tough and cool and manly. I'm not sure whether it's all the swearing that gave me the impression or Jason's internal dialogue, but he just seemed to try so hard to portray this tough guy image and I don't really like that in characters, seems kind of immature to me. But maybe that's just me!

So, yes, solid, entertaining, not earth-shaking, but a good read for a quiet Sunday with nothing better to do (or where you manage to ignore everything that you should be actually doing). ...more

entertaing read I thought...not a fan of instinct love but this one was ok...not sure if it was really an HEA but the author tied up the loose ends...
