Too long by a couple hundred pages and focused on a protagonist who is both too dumb to function and unlikable, the book’s good parts are overshadowed by these rather sizable hindrances. At the end of the day, it’s a story about a dysfunctional family and a midlife crisis with the hook of polygamy, but the polygamy angle isn’t strong enough to maintain the story. Shelves: book-club-pick
Unsolicited, I was watching a Dr. Phil rerun last weekend, and it was replayed during the week, coincidentally about the Colorado City Polygamy Commune. I've been so disturbed by this that I've had a really hard time getting into the book. I even called some of the Udall family to ask about the author and so forth. Our book hasn't gratefully touched on the topics covered in this show this week.

They were interviewing people that are now grown up that as children they were molested at 2 years old,
