What a brutal world, brutal injustice, brutal poverty, all leading to one conclusion: any human living in such a society can't be but as brutal to survive such a reality.
This tale of the two indias portrays such a dark vue of the economic inequalities.

Review for the Abridged Audiobook.
I had already read this book a few years previously but that did not dampen my enjoyment at having this book narrated to me, complete with authentic accents provided by Kerry Shale.
As a Booker nomination, I found this a light relief. In recent years I have avoided Booker prize winners as they have been either too dense or weird. This was definitely a move in the right direction.

The book started well but the more I read the more I realized that it a bit too sarcastic for my taste. I didn't sympathize with the main character and I was never convinced by his motives. Balram did well in describing the dark side of India but I felt it was unjust to the real India because almost everyone and everything he talked about fell into the evil category. In summary, doing bad because everyone is bad was a bit too much to bear with for the 321 pages of the novel.
