Nice book although I liked the details more than the whole. It is an easy to read book that has interesting information about the life, food, family, and most importantly, the relationships of the Turkish people. The book also presents a view on the strained Armenian - Turkish relationship. We see how the atrocities committed on the Armenian population in Turkey during war in the early 1900 were overblown by one party and hidden by the other. I enjoyed this book so much!!! Everything about it was entertaining and captivating, starting with the list of ingredients for the special Turkish dish to the vibrant characters and their struggles. I think that this book speaks to many people because of its feminist elements wrapped in a middle-Eastern shawl. Comparing this novel to Elis Shafak's most famous one, The Forty Rules of Love, I can definitely say that I enjoyed this one a lot more than if I had read The Forty Rules of Love around th
