My antics as a mischievous child inspired me to write this story. It wasn't that I was a really naughty, just accident prone and a bit of a dare devil. The character, Great Aunt Mabel, is totally fictitious. I invented her so that Polly and Gertie didn’t look so naughty.

The scenes from the first half of this book are taken from my memories of a seven-year-old, but not the ending. That part is totally fictitious. Polly’s best friend, Gertie was inspired by my memories of two of my best friends.

I absolutely loved this book. The voice and characterization is incredible. I found myself feeling sorry for the main character, but also loved herbecause of the way she made a tough situation, and turned into humor. I was laughing on a great journey, and enterained until the end. Highly reccommended!

Though the two little rascals are naughty, my aim wasn't to encourage young readers to copy. My aim is to make them laugh and to encourage reluctant readers. This book is the first in my series of The Loveable Rascals. The second book is Rascals Sing at The Opera House. ...more
