I gotta say, I don't entirely know why more people don't absolutely love this book. And I really don't understand the people who say it's boring. It's not--there's so much going on here, even besides the road trip. It's meditations on friendship and romance and being on one's own and figuring out what everything means, but without getting maudlin about it. 4.5 stars. Wow, kind of epic. A realistic/surreal work of fiction that is both hilarious and thought-provoking. The premise may be dark (Cameron has (incurable) mad cow disease), but his quest to find a cure is funny and touching and filled with hope (even during moments of despair). Going Bovine is like a crazy John Green/Daniel Pinkwater mash-up and each of the 480 pages is worth reading.
