Well, I finished. Phew! Check it off the list. :)
Needless to say, this was a very difficult read and I would not have gotten through it without reading it with a group which was led by a fantastic moderator. There were episodes which were incomprehensible to me upon the initial reading, and could only be understood after the fact when it was explained what Joyce was styling the writing after. Tried to read this a second time (7/19/2022) to see if I could understand it better. Could not get very far. Last time I listened to it on audio. This time I tried reading it and listening at the same time. I just don't understand how this book is considered a classic. It should have been scrapped. I read it once, I'm not going to put myself through it again.
